Youth and Young Adult Services

Our Youth Services Department serves children from birth through 6th grade. We provide:

  • Early literacy classes for children ages 4 months through age 5 and their families
  • Drop-in Saturday family early literacy classes, including bilingual Spanish/English
  • STEAM classes such as Family Bots, Virtual Reality, and Pint-Sized Picassos
  • Book clubs for grades K-6
  • After-school classes and events for grades K-6
  • READ to the Dogs events for young readers
  • Special events for children and families
  • Outreach visits to area preschools, elementary and junior high schools
  • Library tours for scouting and other groups

Our Young Adult Department serves youth from 6th grade through high school. We provide:

  • After Hours gaming events
  • Technology classes such as Maker Madness to learn about 3D Printing
  • Teen Homework Cafe for snacks and tea while addressing school work
  • Red Cross babysitting training with CPR
  • Special events for teens and young adults
  • Teen Read Week bookmark contest
  • College test prep for SAT or ACT exams.
  • Annual poetry and art contests
  • LGBT+Q&A youth groups.
  • Year-round volunteer opportunities in Youth Services
